Wolf in Sheep's Clothing

Someone dangerous disguised as benign.

Origin

From the Sermon on the Mount: 'Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.' The image was already a folk tale (Aesop) but Jesus's phrasing fixed it in English.

Modern usage

Used everywhere โ€” fraud cases, dating profiles, political endorsements.
