Origin
From Friedrich Nietzsche (1844โ1900). His writing on the 'death of God,' the รbermensch, ressentiment, and master/slave morality made him one of the most cited โ and most misread โ modern philosophers.
Modern usage
Used in cultural criticism, anti-establishment rhetoric, and (often badly) in self-help. 'A Nietzschean approach to life' usually means 'unsentimental and ambitious.'
