phrase
Age of Aquarius
A coming era of consciousness, liberation, and collective awakening โ depending on whom you ask, already underway.
Origin
Astronomical 'ages' shift slowly because of the precession of Earth's axis, each lasting roughly two thousand years. In esoteric astrology, the Age of Aquarius is the successor to the Age of Pisces (associated with Christianity and hierarchy) and brings collective awareness and innovation. The 1967 song from the musical Hair fixed the phrase in popular memory.
Modern usage
Used semi-seriously in wellness, spiritualist, and New-Age writing โ and ironically in everyone else's. The exact start date is contested by every astrologer.
